Tools & Materials Needed:

TMR’s Lifetime Heim Assembly/Spanner Tool

Propane or suitable torch (optional for loosening Loctite)

Blue Loctite 243
-
High-moly grease (Amsoil Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease NLGI #2, RCV Performance Synthetic Moly Grease, or equivalent)

Clean rags or shop towels
Disassembly Tips

Clean the Joint: Before starting, thoroughly clean the joint to remove dirt and debris.

Prepare for Removal: The red spanner nut, set screw, and grease zerk are secured with Blue Loctite. To break the Loctite’s bond, consider applying light heat with a propane torch.

Use the Right Tool: The TMR Lifetime Heim Assembly/Spanner Tool is essential for safely removing the red spanner nut.
Assembly Steps

Grease the Housing: Apply a light coat of grease inside the heim housing.

Install O-Rings: Insert one O-ring into each bronze race.

Grease Wear Surfaces: Lightly grease both bronze races and the ball.

Insert the First Bronze Race: Place the first bronze race into the heim housing.

Position the Ball: Insert the ball into the housing.

Install the Second Bronze Race: Fit the second bronze race into position.

Secure the Spanner Nut: Apply Blue Loctite 243 to the red spanner nut and torque it to 35 ft/lbs (7/8" Lifetime Heims), 40 ft/lbs (1-1/4" Lifetime Heims).

Adjust for Locking Groove Alignment: Back off the red spanner nut until the nearest alignment groove matches up with the set screw hole.

Install the Set Screw: Apply Blue Loctite 243 to the set screw and install it. The set screw needs to be lightly tightened by hand. Do not over tighten it.

Install the Grease Zerk: Secure the grease zerk with Blue Loctite 243.
